Lloyd Lambert in 1996, age 95.
Lloyd Lambert founded the 70+ Ski Club at age 76 when he saw seniors giving up the sport because they could no longer afford it or had no one to ski with. Using his connections in the ski business, Lloyd persuaded many ski areas to offer free or discounted lift tickets and to organize events to bring skiers together.
Today, led by Lloyd’s grandson, the 70+ Ski Club continues to organize trips and events for its 3,000+ members nationwide. A newsletter is published with inspiring stories, and news of interest to senior skiers. The club offers trips to different US ski resorts and international ski destinations that have included Europe, Argentina, Chile, and New Zealand. The club also offers day events with races and other opportunities to meet fellow skiers. To be eligible for membership you must be at least 70 years old and a downhill skier or snowboarder. Members are welcome to bring younger spouses and friends to most events.
